Wesley reprised his role of Blade/Eric Brooks for the first time in 20 years, after last playing him in Blade: Trinity in 2004.
This latest outing is 25 years and 340 days since he first played Blade in the 1998 film, which surpasses Hugh Jackman “for the record of longest career as a live action Marvel character,” according to Guinness World Records. Hugh first played Wolverine in 2000.
In addition, Wesley‘s cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine marks “the longest gap between character appearances in Marvel films,” with his last appearance being 19 years and 231 days ago in 2004′s Blade: Trinity.
Alfred Molina previously held that record with 17 years. He first played Doctor Octopus in 2004′s Spider-Man 2 and later reprised the role in 2021′s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
There is, of course, a new Blade movie in the upcoming Marvel lineup, but Wesley is not set to reprise the character. Mahershala Ali is set to take on the character next. Find out the advice Wesley gave to Mahershala!
