While many event series go into a summer hiatus in August, the Garden Music Concert Series of Technopolis 20 is running throughout the month.
Four live music performances are planned so far for August, entertaining avid music enthusiasts of the west coast. The first is happening on August 18. The acoustic jazz band Trio in Cahoots will perform at Technopolis 20’s garden, playing jazz songs, pop, folk and Latin-inspired music. Music from artists such as Antonio Carlos Jobim and Nick Drake make up their agenda as well as songs from the jazz and pop repertoire. The music will come to life at the hands of Kakia Fesa on vocals, Antreas Yerolatsitis on guitar and Kyriacos Kesta on double bass.
On August 21, a newly formed musical group will take the garden floor for their debut performance at Technopolis 20. Nābu Pēra is made up of Cypriot musicians Natasa Hadjiandreou on percussion, Dimitris Yasemidis on flute, trombone, and electronics, and Savva Thomas on percussion and vocals. Their aim is to promote contemporary Cypriot music and their upcoming performance in Paphos is titled Soundscapes of Nicosia.
This performance will blend natural and electronic sounds and includes a variety of wind and percussion instruments. Fusing together multiple musical genres, the performance seeks to entertain but also encourage reflection of the listeners’ relationship with the sound environment around them.
On August 25, the George Kalopedis Quartet will bring jazz, swing and soul music to Technopolis 20. Four acclaimed and skilled Cypriot musicians (George Kalopedis, Loukas Louka, Philipp Psillides and Costas Challoumas) well-known in the local jazz scene will perform classical jazz, RnB tunes and soul songs made famous by male vocalists such as Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack, Michael Bublé, Ray Charles and Van Morrison.
The final garden session of the August series will take place on August 30. The local music project Beats’n’Pieces with Eleonora Roussou, Alexis Kasinos, Andreas Rodosthenous and Rodos Panayiotou will take audiences on a journey across bossa nova, jazz, pop, soul and original music, wrapping up a month full of music in style.
