Liverpool attacker Fabio Carvalho has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.
According to a report from the Athletic, Liverpool have rejected a bid from Southampton worth around £15 million for the 21-year-old attacker.
The player was on loan at Hull City last season and he impressed with them in the Championship. The Tigers wanted to sign him this summer after securing promotion to the Premier League. However, Liverpool have turned down their approach as well.
Liverpool are not prepared to sanction a loan move for the attacker, and they would only consider permanent offers. As far as Southampton are concerned, their offer is below the club’s valuation and therefore they will have to return with an improved offer in order to sign the player.
Carvalho is a talented young player with massive potential and he needs to play regularly at this stage of his career. Leaving Liverpool could be ideal for him. The Reds might not be able to provide him with regular game time in the upcoming campaign. The 21-year-old would be a quality acquisition for clubs like Southampton if they can get the deal done.
Carvalho is versatile enough to operate as a central attacking midfielder as well as in the wide areas. He will add goals and creativity to the side.
It will be interesting to see if Southampton or Hull City are willing to submit a substantial offer for him in the coming weeks.
It makes sense for Liverpool to cash in on the player this summer. They will not be able to provide him with ample gametime and the 21-year-old cannot afford to sit on the bench at this stage of his career. The player will certainly hope that the clubs can find a solution and finalise an agreement soon.
