Ben Joyce throws straight gas.
We knew that in college with Tennessee and we’ve since seen it with the Los Angeles Angels. That was evident on Saturday night, when he got called in to close the team’s eventual win over the New York Mets. Facing J.D. Martinez with an 0-2 count, he reared back and threw a strike three that Martinez fanned at.
You can’t blame him, because the pitch was clocked at 104.7 MPH, which is absolutely the fastest pitch thrown in MLB this season. WOW. And his reaction is fantastic as he celebrated.
Just amazing. Check it out:

Ben Joyce records his first big league save … by notching a K on a 104.7 mph fastball, the fastest pitch in the Majors this year!
