ALTHOUGH most of us are happy to see a glimmer of summer returning, our hair doesn’t always like the hot, humid weather.
Many of us suffer with frizzy hair throughout the summer months, but is there anything to help?
Luckily, the pros from beauty booking platform Fresha have shared their five top tips to stop the frizz getting the better of you this summer, including one trick using something you’ll likely have in your kitchen cupboard.
You don’t need to break the bank with posh products to remove frizz – the answer could be in your kitchen drawer.
The pros recommended first sectioning hair in to smaller parts, then “loosely wrap the foil around each section, andgently pull it down your hair to smooth out frizz.”
Since tin foil costs around 20p per metre it’s a real budget-friendly trick.
It works because the metal helps to “neutralise static, resulting in glossy locks,” the pros explained.
That said, this method works best for straighter or wavy hair, so if you’re hair is more curly or coarse this might not work so well on your hair type.
“Regularly using coconut oil in your hair can help reduce frizz in the long term by using regional masks,” the hair experts said.
But the trick is good for short-term fixes too – this is because the oil prevents your locks from absorbing water, which in turn can prevent frizz is more humid climates.
“Add a drop of two of melted oil to your hair once dry to keep the frizz at bay. This will work on all hair types,” the pros added.
Certain hair textures and types will frizz faster in the heat, but you can stop frizz in it’s tracks when washing your locks just by using cold water.
According to this pros, “this will help seal the hair follicles from the start.”
You can also maintain your curl pattern with the help of a curl cream or mouse, but make sure to use these products when you’re hair is still damp.
How to these products work? It’s simple really, they create a barrier that “retains moisture and defines your curls.”
“For best results, follow up with a gentle hair scrunch with your hands to enhance the natural shape of your curls.
“Avoid touching your hair too much as it dries to minimise frizz in the heat,” the hairdressing experts noted.
A really simple way anyone can prevent frizz and stop breakage is by sleeping on a silk pillowcase, or wearing a silk bonnet to bed.
This is because the friction between your hair and pillowcase can lead to damage, but because silk is much more gentle on your hair it will help maintain smooth and manageable locks.

You can spray a small amount of hairspray directly onto your brush before combing it through your locks to help seal your style.
“It will also help prevent your hair from frizzing throughout the day, keeping your look smooth and polished for longer,” the pros said.
Hair experts at Philip Kingsley shared the four stages of the hair growtn cycle are: Anagen, Catagen, Telogen and Exogen
Anagen Phase: Also known as the ‘Growth Phase’ or ‘Active Phase’, is when the cells in the root of your hair are most rapidly dividing so more new hair is formed.
During the Anagen Phase, hair grows around half an inch a month [about six inches a year], and faster in the summer than in winter.
This phase of the hair growth cycle lasts an average of three to five years.
Catagen Phase: Following the Anagen Phase, your hair cycle enters a short transitional phase known as the Catagen Phase, which signals the end of active hair growth and cuts individual hairs off from the blood supply and from the cells that produce new hair.
Approximately three percent of all hairs are in this stage at any time and it lasts for around 10 days.
Telogen Phase: The third stage of your natural hair growth cycle is the Telogen Phase, a resting period when strands remain in their follicles but are not actively growing.
An estimate of 10-15 percent of your hairs are in the Telogen Phase at any given moment.
The Telogen Phase lasts around three months or 100 days.
Exogen Phase: The final stage of the Hair Growth Cycle, when individual hair strands are released from their follicles and fall out.
Now the whole process begins again.
