Bournemouth ready to be stubborn over Solanke

Dominic Solanke has recently emerged as the most talked-about target for Spurs when it comes to their search for a new striker.

But, according to the latest from The Times, Bournemouth are ready to stand their ground and attempt to keep the 26-year-old at the club.

It is said Spurs would be unlikely to meet Solanke’s £65m release clause that is included in his current contract, which runs to 2027.

As part of the £19m deal that brought Solanke to Bournemouth from Liverpool in 2019, the Cherries would also need to pay another 20% if they were to sell the striker for profit.

Spurs might drive a hard bargain

However, a recent report from TEAMtalk suggests Spurs are confident they can bag Solanke for slightly less than the £65m release clause, with a £60m fee mentioned.

That report adds that Solanke himself is very keen on the idea of a switch to North London, and that his agents have already been speaking to Spurs.

Tottenham have been linked with Solanke for a long time now, but talk surrounding the potential move ramped up this week when Fabrizio Romano claimed Spurs were exploring the transfer, but would find it a ‘difficult deal’ to conclude.

Solanke scored 19 goals in the Premier League last season, plus a further two in the cup competitions (Transfermarkt).

Honestly, if Bournemouth are going to try and push us to pay Solanke’s release clause, we should back away.

He is not worth £65m at all, and he would be a big risk for us to sign regardless. If he does come, so be it, I will support him, but I’d rather us look at someone else.
