LAFAYETTE — Someone who stopped at the Lafayette Safeway on Mount Diablo Boulevard on Friday night to buy a Mega Millions lottery ticket is $460,362 richer.
The winning numbers were 6, 7, 24, 44, 54, with the Mega number 13.
While the prize for matching five numbers is not too shabby, the Lafayette player was one number — the Mega number — short of the $358 million jackpot.
Since no one won the jackpot, it will roll over into the next Mega Millions game, which is played on Tuesdays and Fridays.
The winner has 180 days from the day of the draw to claim the prize. No other tickets matched the five numbers.
Five tickets matched four numbers plus the Mega number, each winning $6,439. Seventy-three tickets matched four numbers, with each ticket earning $496. For matching three numbers plus the Mega number, 242 tickets won $170 each, while 5,446 tickets matched three numbers, winning $9 each.
There were a total of 129,147 winning tickets across the state.
