According to the Manchester Evening News, Fulham have submitted a third bid of £23m for Manchester United’s Scott McTominay. This comes after The Times reported that the Cottagers had a £20m bid rejected earlier this week.
Rumours have emerged over recent weeks that Tottenham are now exploring a move for McTominay, who is thought to be surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
Journalist Duncan Castles was the latest to make that claim, telling The Transfers Podcast earlier this week that Ange Postecoglou’s men hold a serious interest in the 27-year-old and that they may look to enter into a bidding war with Fulham for the player.
However, it appears Fulham aren’t hanging about in the race, having submitted a third bid for the Scottish midfielder this week.
The Times claimed that Fulham’s opening offer for McTominay was sent back by Man Utd, with the West London club subsequently returning with an improved bid of £23m (MEN).
The publication alleges that the Manchester club will only be willing to let their academy graduate leave the club for a fee between £25m- £30m.
So, it appears there is still some work to be done in the race to sign McTominay. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will actually place a bid of their own.
Spurs Web Opinion
I would be extremely surprised if Tottenham pushed ahead with an offer for McTominay this summer.
This just appears to be a case of the player’s agent throwing Spurs’ name into the picture to drum up interest in his client.
