FANS were left astonished after cyclists in the men’s Olympic road race set off a SPEED CAMERA.
Belgian Remco Evenepoel, 24, made history on Saturday afternoon as he claimed a second gold in Paris to go with his time trial triumph last weekend.
It is the first time a male rider has won both the time trial and road race at the same Olympic Games.
But before Evenepoel’s brilliant solo victory, one bizarre moment caught the attention of cycling viewers.
With more than 65 kilometres remaining, attacks off the front of the main group – known as the peloton – set off the flash of a speed camera, such was the pace at which they flew down the road.
As Switzerland’s Stefan Kung led the bunch, the camera in the middle of the road let out a beam of light.
Reacting on discovery+, commentator Matt Stephens said: “The speed camera went off.”
He then joked: “They’re all going to get a big fine and maybe a ticket they can stick on their wall and frame.”
Before fellow broadcaster Robbie McEwen added: “They should release the photo.”
And fans were loving the hilarious moment as they took to social media.

A third replied: “NOT THE SPEED CAMERA GOING OFF ON THE CYCLISTS That just shows the effort they’re putting in .”
