PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- August heat continues to build across the Pacific Northwest as hazy and humid conditions remain.
An increase in humidity around Portland Saturday will help to increase Oregon's cloud coverage. Slightly cooler conditions are expected as humidity values keep conditions sticky. Dew point temperatures will continue to sit around 60-degrees as temperatures warm into the mid to upper 80s. Warm afternoon conditions will be felt by humidity rather than sunshine.
The increase in humidity will also increase the thunderstorm potential over the Cascades. Thunderstorms will pose the threat of starting and spreading new wildfires after the hot and dry summer Oregon has seen.
Slightly lower humidity values are expected Sunday as the threat of mountain thunderstorms remains. Sunshine will return Sunday as highs return to the low to mid 90s. It will likely continue to feel muggy outside through the end of the weekend.
Above average temperatures are expected to last through much of next week. That comes as rain remains absent across western Oregon and southwest Washington.
