Founder of PTI party killed in Lahore amid surge in violence in Pakistan
Pakistani media reports indicate that Dr. Shahid Siddiqui, a founding member of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, has been killed in a shooting incident.
According to Dawan News Agency, the incident occurred on Friday, August 2, in the “Block H” area of Valencia Town, Lahore.
Reports suggest that Dr. Siddiqui was severely wounded by unidentified assailants while leaving a mosque and later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
Authorities have not yet disclosed any information about the perpetrators or the motive behind this murder. In response, the PTI, led by Imran Khan, has condemned the killing of Dr. Siddiqui and called for justice and accountability for those responsible.
Meanwhile, the escalation of violence in Pakistan has intensified, with recent months witnessing a surge in terrorist attacks and armed confrontations across various regions, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
This increase in violence has targeted Pakistani officers, civilians, and politicians, raising concerns about the country’s security situation.
In a recent incident, two police officers providing protection to a group of local judges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were killed in a shooting attack, highlighting the deteriorating security environment.
