MIKEL ARTETA has been urged to “take Arsenal to the next level” by signing Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez.
The Gunners are reportedly weighing up bids for the Argentinian as well as two Swedish forwards in Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and Newcastle hero Alexander Isak.
Boss Arteta has already raided his old club for frontman Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
But Arsenal have still been runners-up to City for the past two seasons.
And Pep Guardiola‘s men have racked up a record four Prem titles in a row.
Now former Gunners and Chelsea defender William Gallas has singled out unsettled Alvarez as the “great signing” Arsenal need to make a difference.
The ex-France star, 46, told Genting Casino: “He is a world champion, Copa America winner, won the Premier League twice in a row and won the Champions League.
“He has played most of City’s important games and is a starter for Argentina, he would bring so much winning experience and… wants to reach his very highest level by playing as many minutes as possible.
“Alvarez would take Arsenal to the next level. I don’t know if he could score 20 goals but he can play on the flank or behind the striker and be very influential.”
The 36-cap star, 24, is under contract at the Etihad until 2028.

But Alvarez plays second fiddle to Erling Haaland when, as they usually do, City play just one up front.
And he has been far from sure over his future when questioned at Paris 2024.

Alvarez said: “There is a lot of talk. I am focused here [at the Olympics] because it is a short tournament.
‘At City I feel very good, I played a lot of minutes. But we will see after the Games. First, if I can, I will take a few days off. Then we will decide.”
Alvarez has notched 36 goals in 103 games for Guardiola’s side since arriving from home-country giants River Plate in 2022.
