Sha’Carri Richardson hit the ground running in green Nike running shoes during the Women’s 100m Round 1 at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Friday. Richardson and her U.S. teammates, Melissa Jefferson and Twanisha Terry, advanced to the semifinals.
The 24-year-old blazed by her competitors to win the opening round and did so in style, sporting green Nike sneakers that contrasted her purple track tank and matching shorts. Crafted with a breathable upper, the Olympian’s shoes were a little different from standard Nikes, as they fell under Nike’s running shoe category.
The brand offers a variety of contacts with a track for durability and traction.
Richardson isn’t the only one, however, with an emphasis on her shoe game. In early July New Balance athlete Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone ran the 400 meters in a record-breaking fashion in a pair of the FuelCell SuperComp MD-X v3 sneakers, which was a part of her McLaughlin-Levrone’s signature collection that debuted in March. The shoes featured a breathable mesh upper, a color mixture of purple and green and a rubber outsole that once again offered enough traction and support to allow her to run at full speed.
The 2024 Olympics are scheduled to run from now until Aug. 11.
