JUNCTION CITY (KSNT) - State troopers are identifying a man who was killed in a Thursday crash on I-70 that held up traffic for hours.
The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) issued a crash log on Friday, August 2 regarding a crash reported around 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 1 near Junction City on I-70 involving a semi-truck and a motorcycle. A KTM RC390 motorcycle was getting onto eastbound I-70 at mile-marker 299 "at a high rate of speed" on the on-ramp.
The motorcyclist passed a vehicle on the right shoulder of the ramp before swerving back into the eastbound lane of I-70. The motorcyclist continued to swerve and crossed over the center line entering the westbound lanes of the highway. The motorcycle then collided with a semi-truck head-on.
The rider of the motorcycle is being identified as Brycen C. Ronk, 21, of Fort Riley. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the crash.
