SAMSUNG fans are dishing on the best secret Galaxy features, including one that helps upkeep a work-life balance.
One Galaxy S6 user turned to the internet for answers about tools that were “not talked about much.”
“At this point, I feel like there is a TON of stuff I am missing out on,” the user wrote. “I feel like I am too afraid to ask and not sure where to even begin.”
Users immediately sounded off in the comments below.
“Separate work profile option,” one Redditor wrote, referring to the feature as a “lifesaver.”
“You have all work-related apps separated, muted on weekends, no need for a second work phone.”
The feature in question, Android Work Profile, splits a mobile device into work and non-work sections.
When Work Profile is active, specific apps are loaded into the work side and marked with a tiny briefcase option.
Users can even have two copies of the same app, like Microsoft Outlook, for work and personal use.
The feature is also fairly secure, as a user’s personal data and applications are kept outside their employer’s IT control.
Another name that frequently cropped up was DeX, with one user proclaiming, “DeX is like the biggest thing.”
Samsung DeX allows users to connect a Galaxy S8 or later to an external monitor and use it as a desktop computer.
After hooking the device to a supported UBS-C to HDMI cable or adapter, the phone launches DeX mode on the external monitor.
Users can connect a mouse and a keyboard to enhance gaming, movie-watching, and more.
As one user stated, “It’s wild how much you can do with it.”
Several Redditors also praised Bixby, Samsung‘s flagship virtual assistant.
“Bixby started out as the dumber version of Google Assistant, but now that Google Assistant has become impossibly dumb, I switched back over to Bixby just to discover that there’s a colossal amount of functionality,” one user wrote.
The tool can change phone settings – “down to extremely minute ones” – and answer calls using a custom voice based on your own.
In a cluttered market full of virtual assistants like Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa, it seems Bixby stands out.
“Bixby Routines can automate a bunch of stuff for you based on your daily habits,” one user explained.
“It might take a bit to set up, but once you do, it’s pretty smooth.”
