Sheep2NouCampNouCampI havent been this exited for a first game or season since Arsenal away and our first time in the prem
probably approaching this one with more anticipation tbf
The Arsenal game was quite the schooling.
Welcome to the big league.
yes a massive reality check
we'd had years of successful seasons and always being competitive in the cup comps (cardiff final etc) and I rather naïvely thought with our new signings we'd up our level a give them a game
part way through I distinctly remember thinking oh this is very different, they really are miles above... we've got no chance
I remember us being on the attack a slightly poor pass on the edge of their area and suddenly they scored.
A fantastic team. They ought to have won the title that season as well as 2002 and 2004.
Man Utd won 16 and drew the other 3 after Christmas. Arsenal couldn't keep up with the relentless pressure.
But I don't think I've ever seen a team that were so superior to others as Arsenal at that point. Their play was a level above anyone else in the PL.
I'm sure that teams now are better - but the gap isn't there between them which it was back then.
