Gray: You Can Feel The Excitement

David Gray and his players can’t wait for the 2024/25 William Hill Premiership to start this weekend!

After weeks of hard work during pre-season and in the Premier Sports Cup, Gray’s men are now ready for the league campaign, which kicks off for the Hibees against St Mirren on Sunday.

When speaking to Hibs TV, our Head Coach admitted that there’s a real zip and intensity in training as we edge closer to that first league outing.

“We’re really looking forward to it (start of the league season) and pleased with how the week has gone so far.

“The lads have been really bright and they’re looking forward to the league season getting underway.

"You can feel the excitement in training every day as we head into that first game.

“I’m really happy with where we’re at in terms of fitness levels and seeing players implement what we’ve been asking them to do in games.

“There’s a lot to improve, which we work on every day, but I’m really happy with where we are.”

Leading into the weekend, our opponents are in action on Thursday evening in the UEFA Europa Conference League. St Mirren drew 0-0 with Icelandic side Valur away from home in the first leg.

Gray revealed he will be in attendance at the SMiSA Stadium to watch the second leg as he continues to prepare for Sunday.

“I’ll be watching their match; I watched their game last week as well. It’s more about what we will do, though, I always think that way. We always watch every game of the opposition to make sure the players are fully prepared for what they’ll face and how we will play against that; we’ve worked on that all week.

“I expect a tough challenge, a different challenge – with respect – to the teams we’ve faced competitively already.

“St Mirren have earned the right to play in Europe and the full focus for us this season is to be back playing at that level. This is the sort of game we need to win to ensure we can do that.”
