The biggest star of Olympic gymnastics — beyond Simone Biles, of course — is … Laurie Hernandez, who isn’t competing (although she once did).
Hernandez is on the mic with NBC as an analyst, and she’s done just an unbelievable job. Sometimes, it’s the funny commentary that cites a meme. Other times, it’s her very human and fan reaction that we can all relate to. And then there are those times when she breaks down something very complex in the sport and makes it simple.
Whatever it is, Olympics fans can’t get enough of it. Here’s a roundup of all the love for Hernandez:

Laurie Hernandez, who has been absolutely delightful on this Olympics broadcasts, is such an important reminder that people want announcers who not only enjoy the sport they're covering but also appreciate what's in front of them.

Hope NBC signs Laurie Hernandez to a long-term contract because she’s an excellent Olympics commentator.

Laurie Hernandez is such a good commentator for women’s gymnastics. She does a great job of explaining really specific technicalities of the sport while also weaving in important narratives. This is how you get people interested in the sport beyond a surface level
