Simone Biles took time out of her busy schedule of winning Olympic medals and winning more Olympic medals to acknowledge her former teammate MyKayla Skinner. On July 30, Biles posted a photo with the USA women’s gymnastics team gold and captioned it “lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions,” a reference to something Skinner said in a now-deleted YouTube video. Skinner, a silver medalist on vault at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics who is not on the 2024 Paris Olympic team, posted a since-deleted July 3 vlog commenting on the 2024 team, saying Suni Lee did not have a “gymnast body,” picking apart the team’s makeup, mispronouncing team member Hezly Rivera’s name, and criticizing the changing culture of gymnastics in the interest of athlete safety. She later apologized for the video on her Instagram Story.
“oop I’ve been blocked,” Biles tweeted on July 31, which we can only assume is a reference to Skinner. Well, at least she won’t have to worry about that anymore.
