Kim Jong-un has travelled to North Korea’s border with China to inspect the aftermath of the apocalyptic flooding.
Some 4,000 homes in the city of Sinuiju and Uiju County have been submerged in water after record rainfall ‘far exceeded the danger line’ of the level of the Amnok River.
At least 5,000 people have been rescued, some even airlifted in helicopters, in the hours after the downpour on Saturday.
Across the border, in China, at least 30 people were killed in the floods, while 35 others remain missing.
Footage shows Kim on a speedboat, being taken through submerged farmland.
As the vessel picks up speed, it crashes into a line of pine trees, leaving the leader fighting with branches for a few seconds.
He is seen straightening up his hair as the boat continues to navigate through the floods.
Hours before, Kim surveyed the damage from the window of his luxury Lexus SUV as he was driven through rising floodwaters.
Pictures published by KCNA state media also showed the dictator sitting on a chair on a tarmac at an army base, as helicopters brought people to safety.
Around 7,400 acres of farmland along with numerous public buildings, facilities and roads were also flooded.
This prompted a two-day emergency meeting by the Workers’ Party’s earlier this week, which was presided by Kim.
Officials have now decided to erect 4,400 new houses and strengthen embankments in Sinuiju and Uiju and restore damaged facilities in Jagang province, a report by KCNA said.

North Korea is prone to flooding from heavy summer rainfall because of poor drainage, deforestation and dilapidated infrastructure.
