THE future of Netflix’s hit show Squid Game has been confirmed after the streamer gave a first-look at the upcoming series.

Now, the show will return for a second series but that exciting news came with the bittersweet announcement .
While a third series has been commissioned, it will also be the last.
Alongside the news of it’s return date on Boxing Day, December 26, a short teaser trailer was released.
It had an Olympics-style theme showing a track race going awry, as dozens of the Squid Game contestants in their distinctive green tracksuits race to survive.
Viewers then see a small podium with the mysterious character Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) coming into shot.
He oversees Squid Game and as chaos breaks out among the runners, he is flanked on each side by four of his pink-suited henchmen.
He then says in Korean: “It’s been three years. Do you want to play again?”
The success of the show also spawned a reality competition series called Squid Game: The Challenge.
Meanwhile Lee Jung-jae, who played main character Seong Gi-hun in series one, recently teased what fans can expect from series two.
In an interview with RadioTimes, Lee admitted: “I think the script for season 2 is even more interesting than season 1, and there is going to be a new set of characters as well.
“So I think the audience is going to be really excited about it.
“One thing I felt while reading the script is that there is an even deeper emotion that’s discovered within season 2, and also I think the audience will feel like, ‘Where is this story going?’
“Because there’s so many twists and turns that happen.”
