Donald Trump touted a new range of branded sneakers Wednesday — and was immediately criticized on X.
The shoes, which include the logo "Trump - Crypto President," had been debuted at a Bitcoin conference last weekend.
"Just spoke at the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday. It was GREAT! Get your Bitcoin Sneakers now. These are Limited Edition, they are each numbered, and you can now pay with Bitcoin or your favorite Crypto," the former president wrote on Truth Social.
They came after an earlier gold sneaker was launched in February with a $399 price tag.
X user Peter Henlein suggested that profits from the sneakers will go directly to Trump. They're not campaign donations or donations to charity.
"If Trump, a presidential nominee who is also a BILLIONAIRE, cared about America, you'd think he'd stop selling sneakers for personal profit 3 months before the presidential election," he said.
Another person cautioned: "I don't suggest anyone buy them. They may hold your feet for ransom.
The influencer known as Outspoken on X, cracked up seeing the combination of Bitcoin and Trump sneakers.
"Kamala is filling up arenas with supporters, and Trump is grifting gold sneakers again. We ARE NOT the same," commented Lisa, who goes by Liberal Lisa in Oklahoma on X.
"The weird grifting never stops," commented one veteran.
"I'm sure the grifter will end up with a Trumpcoin, and the same people who lost a fortune on his public company, will lose more buying that," laughed Dexter Wright.
Others included the insult, "weird," "shabby" and "gross AF."
