BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Saratoga County Board of Elections participated in an elections security workshop on Wednesday, July 24. Saratoga County is one of four counties chosen to host the training in the state before the next general election.
Presentations about cybersecurity regulations, voting equipment, and misinformation about elections were shared. After the presentations, the board participated in hypothetical cyber and physical security exercises.
Federal and local agencies, including the Cyber and Infrastructure Security Agency, the FBI, the New York State Executive Chamber, the New York State Division of Homeland Security, the New York State Police, and the New York State Office of Information Technology Services, assisted with the training. Other county information technology professionals and communication directors also attended.
Early voting begins Saturday, Oct. 26, and ends Sunday, Nov. 3. The New York State Board of Election website has more information about Saratoga County elections, how to request a ballot, and find a polling place.
