The three people killed when their car plunged more than 300 feet off a cliff at Devil’s Slide have been identified by the coroner.
The victims were Mohammad Noory, 29 of South San Francisco, Angelica Gacho, 28 of South San Francisco, and Brylyn Aroma, 36 of Fort Riley, Kansas, according to the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office.
The three died when their car drove off of Highway 1 just south of Devil’s Slide in Pacifica around 11:20 a.m. on Friday. The car, a gray two-door sedan, came to rest on an embankment 300 to 400 feet down, authorities said.
Firefighters performed cliff rescue operations, locating two of the deceased Friday. The third was found when rescue operations resumed on Saturday.
A GoFundMe fundraiser organized for Noory’s family said that he was the only supporter of his family, adding that he immigrated to the U.S. from Afghanistan in 2021 on a Special Immigrant Visa he earned by working for the U.S. Army as an interpreter.
“With the loss of him, his parents and siblings back in home country Afghanistan are not in a good emotional and physical state,” the fundraiser description reads.
