TOPEKA (KSNT) - Stormont Vail Health is moving closer to changing over to its new headquarters.
Earlier this year, the health system purchased Capitol Tower from Hill's Pet Nutrition. The hospital is now saying it will consolidate into the seven-story building in Topeka's downtown area.
The move is expected to bring in around 400 employees from across 78 departments with the hospital. Stormont Vail said it will generate greater collaboration and increase efficiency.
"By having everybody under one roof, it's easier to access," said Keith Griffin, system director of Facility Services at Stormont Vail Health. "Removing non-patient facing people from our healthcare facilities such as the hospital or other clinics, we're opening additional opportunities to increase our healthcare opportunities."
The hospital reports about 170 employees are already working out of the new building and expects everything to be completed by April 2025.
