Metroboard is an interactive artwork that tracks real-time train data and displays it on your wall.
Places are like people: They’re hard to really know. Sure, you can dine at all of a city’s most revered restaurants and amass a gallery’s worth of photos at its most iconic landmarks, but how do you get to know its soul? For Kirill Safin and Emily Perkins, cofounders of the Los Angeles-based studio Design Rules Company, the answer is easy: Descend to its underbelly, where a metal beast of a train roars below its neighborhoods, and travel the routes that cross it like veins until you reach the city’s beating heart.
In other words, ride the city’s whole metro system until there’s nowhere else to go.
