WITH the hot weather in full swing, Brits will be taking full advantage by heading outdoors to make the most of it.
But creating a makeup look that can withstand the heat can be a challenge, especially if you’re one to easily sweat.
The high temperatures can break down your foundation and eyeliners, as some of the oils in the products become mushy in the heat.
This means you may get a shock when you look at yourself in the mirror in the second half of the day to find your makeup has melted off your face.
Celebrity makeup artist Kelli Ann Sewell believes it’s due to how beauty fans are layering their makeup.
She says: “I think people avoid powder because of the way they think it makes them look, when in reality, it’s the best tool for longwear, sweat-proof makeup.”
Kelli, who recommends using a natural powder to help set your makeup, also urges people to focus on prepping their skin.
She says beauty fans should opt for a “water-based moisturiser” as you don’t want to add any “extra oils” to your skin but you do want to “hydrate your skin.”
Kelli will then focus on using products that have a lightweight consistency so she can “build coverage with little to nothing on the skin.”
The beauty professional, who is the founder of Makeup By Kelli Anne, will always finish her look with a setting spray.
Her top tip for those attending special occasions like weddings on a warm day, Kelli urges beauty fans to avoid balmy, oily products.
She believes that these types of products slip off the face more easily than those without oily because of the texture.
Kelli says: “You want to create a base that won’t slip once you start sweating, so using liquid products is best.”
