Legendary 80s band release first new single with original line-up in 34 years

ALL four members of band Jane’s Addiction’s reunite for the first time in 34 years with their new single ‘Imminent Redemption’.

The US heavy rock group debuted the new song at a London concert, which was their first show all together in 14 years.

The high energy, rock-infused single feels like an instant classic from the rock legends, though distinctly current, breathing fresh air into a new chapter of Jane’s Addiction.

The band features singer Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery.

Eric has had an on-again, off-again relationship with his band mates.

He hasn’t recorded a song with them since the band’s 1990 classic Ritual de lo Habitual.

Perry’s lyrics appears to acknowledge how the music harkens back to the band’s prime, singing, “The sound is bittersweet, man.”

In a joint statement, Jane’s Addiction said: “It is different this time. To have everyone back together, releasing new music. It’s time. Welcome to the next chapter of Jane’s Addiction. ‘Imminent Redemption’ is only the beginning.”

The single also marks Jane’s first new studio song in over a decade, following the 2013 one-off single “Another Soulmate.”

Since their breakup in the early Nineties breakup, Jane’s Addiction has released two studio albums, 2003’s Strays and 2011’s The Great Escape Artist, but neither LP featured Eric.

The band will embark on a North American tour in August supported by Love & Rockets.

Fans are eager to see them before Eric decides to leave again.

Last year, Perry Farrell teased fans while he was developing new songs while in conversation with the Brazilian radio station 89 A Rádio Rock.

He said: “I feel that this new bunch of songs… We don’t know how many we’re gonna put out.”

“But I can tell you one thing: it’s been one of the most exciting times of my life, because these songs are that good.”

He added he “can’t wait for people to hear” the material they’ve been working on since reuniting with Eric Avery.

Drummer Stephen Perkins matched this excitement, describing it as a “great experience” and promising the band would “go for it as hard as we can.”

It remains unclear whether Jane’s Addiction will release their long-awaited fifth album, and the first with Eric Avery since 1990, or if they’ll continue to share one-off singles.

However, fans are just delighted that all four are back together again for the time being.
