TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office arrested one individual relating to the stolen vehicle.
According to the news release, a 23-year-old was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on charges of felony flee or attempt to elude, interference with law enforcement, reckless driving, possession of stolen property, aggravated endangering a child, violating a traffic signal, speeding and failure to properly signal a turn.
The individual also had a felony warrant for his arrest through Shawnee County and a misdemeanor warrant through the City of Topeka.
A 16-year-old female passenger was taken into custody at the vehicle, according to the sheriff's office news release. A firearm was found in her purse. She was arrested on charges of felony interference and criminal carrying of a firearm.
The Topeka Police Department assisted on this incident, and both agencies are still searching for puppy that was in the car when it was stolen.
At 9 a.m. on July 30, the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black Volkwagen Passat in the 7400 block of Southwest Auburn Road that had been reportedly stolen. The driver refused to stop and a pursuit started. The male driver fled on foot new Southwest 29th Street and Southwest Fairlawn Road. He was later apprehended inside a restaurant in the 2800 block of Southwest Fairlawn Road.
