TEHRAN, Iran - In an extraordinary move, Israel on Wednesday assassinated one of Hamas's most moderate leaders, and the chief negotiator in the hostage talks, Ismail Haniyeh.
Haniyeh was the militant group's political leader and is largely believed not to have had advance knowledge of the 7 October 2023 attacks on Israel.
