The Blue Suede Cruise is a celebration of the glory days of hot rodding and drag racing how it used to be. Over 3000 cars, all of which were 1978 or older, the Nostalgia Drag Racing League, and ten front engine top fuelers descended on Summit Motorsports Park for the 23rd annual event sponsored by Lingenfelter Performance and Comtec gaskets. This award-winning 55 Chevy gasser was DRIVEN to the event from Ocala, Florida!
Jimi Young led top fuel qualifying with a 5.714 pass.
This 41 Ford Coupe was voted best in show.
Scott Leber made several exhibition runs in his Cosmic Ray 53 Corvette from the Scott Rods gassers.
James Hayes outran the always-tough Robby Freels for the Pro 7.0 win with a 7.011/198.26 in the final.
Fred and Dino showed up from Bedrock, but no sign of Wilma and Pebbles
Joe Haas held off a hard-charging Young by .001 (6.314 – 6.315) for the top fuel win as Young had to peddle.
Kenny Robinson’s wheelstanding Ford ran a 10.01 to defeat Jim Satterly for the pro gas title.
Jim Hayes was the Pro 7.50 class champion over Brian Freund.
“Towman” Tug Brock ran down Larry Rollo from behind for the Modified Production win.
Ryan Dustman led Pro 7.0 qualifying with a 7.018 and did great burnouts, too!
Joe Foster took home the pro comp title with a 9.04 win over Nick Hamilton.
