Team USA Gymnastics women dominated en route to another gold medal in the team final on Tuesday evening in Paris, completing improbable comebacks for both Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee after respective health scares following the 2021 games in Tokyo. That was more than enough after USA’s Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey both held up their ends.
Fittingly, Biles was the last member of Team USA to take the floor and her routine was the perfect cap to (another) gold-medal-winning in France — USA’s first in the event since 2016.
It may have been the expected outcome, but to see the US stars actually pull off the achievement is nothing less than amazing. Perhaps that’s why so many celebrities pulled up to Paris to watch the team event in person.
