SKY customers have received a free upgrade to their TVs with a host of extra channels – including some from Sky Sports.
The Xumo Play app has been rolled out to selected Sky devices with access to more than 70 channels already on the service.
Sky’s got six channels of its own launching on the platform[/caption]Xumo Play is a free streaming app run by US media giant Comcast – which owns Sky – and Charter.
Today’s launch marks the first time it will be available outside North America.
And as part of the upgrade, Sky have created six brand new channels of its own for the service.
These are home to a range of previously aired classics, such as Most Haunted and Premier League Legends.
The app is available to Sky Glass and Sky Stream, Sky’s internet-based TV products.
It can be found in the apps rail or can be summoned by saying “Xumo Play” to the voice remote.
These channels will be added to Sky Q later this year and integrated into the TV guide on Sky Glass and Sky Stream too for a more seamless experience.
Sky’s channels include three Sky Sports branded stations, called Sky Sports Stories, Sky Sports Classics and Sky Sports Vault.
Sky Sports Stories is for documentary fans with EFL Rivalries to Her Huddle.
Sky Sports Classics delves into the Sky Sports archives showing content like Premier League Icons and Premier League Legends.
And Sky Sports Vault looks back on archive darts, EFL and boxing content including 30 Years of The PDC World Darts Championship and Fight Night.
