Rafael Nadal Dominates Men’s Singles First Round Match in Custom Nike Vapor Cage 3 Sneakers at the Summer Olympics 2024 in Paris

Team Spain’s Rafael Nadal lit up the tennis court during his Men’s Singles First Round match against Marton Fucsovics of Hungary on day two of the 2024 Olympic Games yesterday in Paris. Ultimately, Nadal took home the victory for Spain in a photo-finish matchup of 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.

The Spaniard took the win wearing custom Nike Vapor Cage 3 sneakers in a white and neon orange colorway. The athletic sneaker style featured breathable cage-inspired uppers that appeared to be woven.

Additionally, the silhouette included white lace-up closures, Nadal’s logo detailing in a contrasting black fixed to the tongues, matching Nike swoosh detailing on the sides and flexible custom neon orange soles speckled with black unique dots. The silhouette marries function and style, offering the wearer cushy support and speed on or off the tennis court.

Along with his signature sneakers, the 22-time Grand Slam men’s singles titleholder donned a bright red and yellow t-shirt boasting the colors of Spain’s flag. The shirt was also fixed with a small graphic of the country’s flag. On the bottom, Nadal donned white Nike shorts with contrasting black swoosh detailing.

Nadal was 27 when he was given his own Nike design in 2013. The tennis star has a long-standing relationship with the athletic brand, having created signature Nike shoes and clothing items in the past. Most notably, Nadal teamed up with Nike to create the NikeCourt Zoom Vapor Cage 4 Rafa. The hard court tennis sneaker comes in an array of colorful styles from neons to neutrals and beyond.

There are multiple interactions of Nadal’s signature Vapor Cage style, however, the tennis star seems to gravitate solely toward his Nike Zoom Cage 3 in customized styles. In honor of his 10th French Open title in 2017, Nike released an exclusive footwear and apparel line that included a pair of limited-edition shoes, NikeCourt Tennis Classic El Decimo.
