A 22-YEAR-OLD who grew up living pay check to pay check has revealed how he hustled his way to a £60,000 a year business.
Randy Roblero began working to provide for his family in 2021, after his father passed away, leaving the family in financial difficulty.
He had always enjoyed keeping his car, a Nissan Altima, in a pristine condition, so decided to start a car detailing business.
“I chose car detailing because it’s much easier to get into at a young age than other types of businesses”, he told CNBC.
“Car detailing is pretty much a deep clean of a vehicle.
“We clean the nooks and crannies, the cracks and crevices, all the little details that you wouldn’t normally get at a normal, typical car wash.
He continued: “What I like about car detailing is the ability to transform a vehicle from very dirty to very clean.
“I would say that is the best part of my job.”
Randy learned the skills needed for car detailing from YouTube, and as his business began to grow, he bought himself a van so that he could drive to people’s properties to clean their cars.
He said: “I love my car detailing business because it’s rewarding.
“It brings in money and provides for my family.
“I do plan on doing car detailing for the rest of my life.”
Randy’s services start at £93 and can cost up to £272.
He now makes £4,600 a month and around £60,000 a year.
Randy said that his native Florida was a great place to set up a car detailing business, as there are so many cars.
Dragon's Den star Theo Paphitis revealed his tips for budding entrepreneurs:
“Every corner you turn there’s so many cars, all different types of vehicles.
“There’s just so much business, so much potential to make money from it”.
Randy’s friend George often helps him out with his business, and in the future he would like to expand to a wider area, and hire some staff to help him out.
He said: “In the future, I want to make enough money so my mum doesn’t have to work, and I want my family to be more financially stable than it is today.
“I just had the mentality, you know, that life goes on and you have to keep going on with your life.
“And I know that my father would have wanted me to do that instead of just mourning his loss every day in my life.”
