'That's not fair!' Heated fight between Dem and GOP operatives breaks out on CNN
Republican operative Shermichael Singleton got into a heated back-and-forth with Democratic operative Maria Cardona over who deserves more blame for America's broken immigration system.
During an appearance on CNN, Cardona argued that Republicans had squandered whatever advantage they had on immigration when they torpedoed their own bipartisan compromise bill that would have enacted the toughest immigration restrictions seen in decades.
This caused Singleton to object.
"On the immigration front, you guys had two years when you controlled the House and the Senate, you could have easily done something with majority support, you wouldn't have relied on Republicans," he said. "So I don't think it's fair to blame Republicans."
"If you're saying that right there, you're proving that Republicans aren't interested..." Cardona began.
"I'm not proving anything!" Singleton shouted back.

"When you're saying, 'You guys could have done this on your own,' this is not a Democratic problem, this is an American problem!" she insisted. "Republicans are proving that you guys don't want to do something!"
"My point is, if you have a legislative priority, and you had two years to accomplish that priority and you did not, I think it's a bit ludicrous to blame Republicans when you couldn't get it done on your own!" he said.
"It is when Republicans are responsible and should have some kind of interest in trying to solve this," she said.
After some more shouting, Singleton eventually just said, "Maria, that is not fair, that is not fair!"
Singleton did not mention that, from 2017 until 2019, Republicans had unified control of the White House and both houses of Congress and similarly did not pass any significant immigration reform measures.
