A Welsh man found dead in his hotel room had been enjoying a holiday in Benidorm with friends, an inquest heard.
Harvey Dominy, 21, had visited Spain with pals earlier this month when his body was discovered on the floor of his hotel room following a night out.
His group of friends left the hotel at around 7pm on Tuesday, July 16, but when they returned hours later they found Mr Dominy on the floor and without a pulse, an inquest opening at Pontypridd Coroners’ Court heard on Monday, July 29.
Emergency services were called but Mr Dominy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The court heard it is estimated Mr Dominy, from Merthyr Tydfil, had died at some point between 9pm and 10.30pm that evening. He was identified by his friends and a post-mortem examination was carried out, but medics were unable to provide a provisional cause of death.
Assistant coroner for south Wales central Kerrie Burge adjourned the inquest until further information is obtained from the Spanish authorities, and sent her condolences to Mr Dominy’s family.
Near Mr Dominy’s home at Meadow Close, Cae Penderyn, his loved ones paid tribute to him over the weekend by releasing blue balloons to the song Forever Young and wore T-shirts with his face on.
Liam Greenaway wrote: ‘I honestly don’t know what to say, I’ve honestly lost a part of me, my right arm you was my bro.
‘You was so special to everyone but most important to me, honest the best boy ever u was brother.’
Kooler nightclub in Merthyr Tydfil encouraged revellers to raise a toast to Harvey while playing ‘Forever Young’ last weekend.
In a post the venue said: ‘We at Kooler Nightclub are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Harvey Dominy.
‘His vibrant energy and unwavering support brought joy to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.’
