New Delhi: While the country is still trying to come out of the trauma of the unfortunate death of three IAS and Civil Services students in Delhi, another controversy surrounding another IAS and Civil Services classroom session has gone viral on social media and has created a big uproar.
Shubhra Ranjan, a renowned Civil Service tutor has found herself in a big dispute after the video of her tutorial comparing Mughal emperor Akbar to Hindu deity Shri Rama went viral. Reportedly, in the video, Ranjan stated that Ram “does not show unlimited power.” This comment has drawn fury from many quarters as netizens are questioning about the portrayal of historical and religious figures in educational content.

Shubhra Ranjan issued a clarification on Saturday, July 27, on her letterhead in which she has issued an apology saying that she did not intend to hurt sentiments of any section of society.

“You can understand from watching the complete video lecture that I intended to convey that Prabhu Sri Ram’s Rajya was an ideal state,” she said, clarifying that the classroom session was part of a comparative study.
