According to GiveMeSport, Tottenham Hotspur are at the front of the queue to land Federico Chiesa, who is also on the radar of five other Premier League clubs.
The report says that Ange Postescoglou is keen on bolstering his attack ahead of the start of the new season, with Spurs now to have shown an ‘increased level of interest’ in Chiesa.
The outlet backs up what we have heard from various Italian outlets over recent weeks by claiming that Juventus are open to cashing in on the winger since he has just a year left on his contract.
It is explained that while Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United have also expressed an interest in Chiesa, Spurs have emerged as the most likely destination for the attacker after expressing interest in his services.
The publication asserts that Tottenham have pinpointed the 26-year-old as a more affordable option than Crystal Palace’ Eberechi Eze and Wolves’ Pedro Neto.
Finally, it is revealed that Juve would be willing to sell Chiesa for as little as £21m, with new boss Thiago Motta not wanting to keep players who are not fully committed to his project.
It remains to be seen whether any of the chasing Premier League clubs actually put in a bid for the Italian winger over the coming weeks.
Spurs Web Opinion
My reading from the latest developments on this is that Tottenham have identified Chiesa as an alternative in case their pursuit of Neto or any of their other top targets fails.
I do not get the sense that Spurs have identified the former Fiorentina man as a priority signing.
