It quickly garnered a dedicated following thanks to its blend of humour and heartfelt storytelling.
Life & Beth follows the journey of Beth, a seemingly successful wine distributor, whose life takes an unexpected turn when a sudden incident forces her to confront her past and reassess her future.
The comedy drama gives viewers a glimpse into Beth’s teenage years through flashbacks, exploring the events that shaped her into the woman she is today.
In the final episodes of the second season, Beth was seen making significant strides in her personal growth and relationships.
Fans were looking forward to the developing storyline that was playing out with her rekindled love interest, John, who was played by Michael Cera.
The pair got married and were expecting a child when John was diagnosed with autism, explaining some of the behaviours that had led the couple to clash throughout the series.
The unfolding drama left fans desperate for more, making the cancellation even more painful.
Amy Schumer made a statement after the show’s unexpected termination, simply posting a screenshot of the news on Instagram alongside a heart emoji.
Fans flocked to the comments to share how much they treasured the series and are heartbroken by the news.
One wrote: “Such a great show! Sad to hear this. Congratulations on making such a great heart felt hilarious show.”
Another lamented: “Lame. My sisters and I were reeeeeeally looking forward to 3rd season. Like even more than looking forward to Chanukah.”
A third exclaimed: “No!! This was such a great show!”
Broadway producer Kirina Petkun shared: “So so devastated. Cannot express how much this show means to me and the time we spent on set, thank you for everything.”
