China on Monday criticized the US and Japan for their joint statement condemning Beijing's actions in the South China Sea. Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian urged both countries to stop "creating imaginary enemies" and interfering in China’s internal affairs. The US and Japan had denounced China’s maritime claims and military activities, accusing it of destabilizing the region and attempting to unilaterally alter the status quo. China’s response rejected these criticisms, accusing the US and Japan of exaggerating threats and misrepresenting China’s foreign policy.
