Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) on Sunday addressed allegations that he is "weird," and it did not go well.
Vance, who was chosen by Donald Trump as the former president's running mate in the 2024 election, has been accused of being "weird" and "strange" by Democrats who have picked apart his current and past statements. This has been connected to Vance's attacks on "childless cat ladies," as well as his fixation on Diet Mountain Dew and his dolphin-based search history.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, acting as a private citizen, has also raised the "weird" issue. Speaking with host Jen Psaki, the former Democratic mayor of South Bend, Indiana, subtly leaned into the narrative that Americans find Vance "weird" based on a history of comments over the years that have the Trump campaign reeling.

Vance attempted to hit back over the weekend with a posting on X.
"JD Vance is weird," Vance wrote, quoting the attack line. He then included a video from the 2020 election in which Kamala Harris is seen saying she has she/her/hers pronouns. "Mine, too," the host appears to quip.
But Vance's attack on Harris was met with more derision.

@franklinisbored wrote, "JD Vance’s pronouns are 'Couch/Dolphin.'"
@dsmj1010 replied, "Please don't go on a diatribe about childless people. There are better ways to bring voters to the [GOP]."
@MerMadrigal replied, "Just no more comments about 'single cat ladies'. If you have been fortunate to have children who survive and thrive, good for you. Not all are so blessed."
@DevinCow said, "Admitting it is the first step."
GOP political consultant Mike Madrid also weighed in:
"Sarah Palin didn’t collapse this badly this fast," he wrote Sunday on X.
