Julie Christie, the decorated actress known for her roles in Doctor Zhivago, Madam Rosmerta in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Hamlet, was just spotted for the first time in nearly a decade; and she looks as chic as ever!
In photos obtained by Metro UK on July 23, we can see Christie out and about with her husband Duncan Campbell, both going hand-in-hand to local dry cleaners in east London. The 84-year-old Academy Award-winning actress was seen smiling as she rocks a look consisting of blue khakis, a baby blue button-down, and a red scarf. She’s showing off her gray hair and her iconic smile as she is photographed.
Is it any surprise that Christie looks amazing at 84? No, but it is a surprise to see her, especially since her last public appearance was back in 2016, around the same time as her retirement from the spotlight.
Despite being a Hollywood legend, Christie decided in the mid-2010s to leave LA to go back to a low-key life in the UK. She talked to Daily Express via Metro about her decision, saying, “Hollywood was against everything I had been brought up to appreciate. My late mother Rosemary was wise and frugal, quite austere. She was conscious about the environment, even in those days.”
Now back to how great it is to see her, and how confident and cool she looks! We’re happy she seems to be living her best life, away from the spotlight.
