Tottenham Hotspur made the decision earlier this month to part company with striker Troy Parrott.
Parrott joined Spurs in 2017 and impressed in the club’s academy ranks and went on to make his Premier League debut two years later aged 17, while Jose Mourinho was in charge.
Despite his early promise, he was unable to establish himself as a first-team regular at Tottenham and instead headed out on domestic loan spells at Millwall, Ipswich, MK Dons and Preston with limited success.
It was last season during a season-long loan at Excelsior Rotterdam where he scored 17 goals in 32 games in all competitions that he caught the eye of fellow Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.
Parrott completed a move to the Eredivisie side for a £6.7m fee and signed a five-year contract until the summer of 2029.
The Republic of Ireland international has been speaking about his departure from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and believes that it was in the best interests of his career.
He told De Telegraaf: “I don’t want to put pressure on myself, but if I play well and help the team, I hope it works out.
“I think AZ is a good place where players get the opportunity to develop. I have been at Tottenham for a long time, but it was time to move on.”

Parrott’s stock rose after a decent season at Excelsior Rotterdam which went some way to restoring his reputation after some disappointing loan spells in the English Football League.
