Tate McRae is opening up about her relationship with Olivia Rodrigo.
The 21-year-old “Greedy” singer spoke about her strong female friendships in an interview with Us Weekly.
“I love Olivia. I love all my girlfriends,” she began, adding people “think way harder into things than we do” and try to read into any interaction between the stars.

“We’re just friends who like to sing,” she continued. “We’re all supporting each other and want to go to each other’s concerts and want to listen to each other’s music.”
“There’s not much beef outside of that. I think people try to make up things that are never true and we just think it’s hilarious,” she added.
Tate said she thinks it’s “sick when we can just all do our own thing and love each other’s stuff. You don’t have to overthink it any more than that.”
Tate appeared in Olivia’s “bad idea, right?” music video, and have since been embarking on their respective Think Later World Tour and GUTS World Tour runs, which makes scheduling time to keep in touch difficult.
“It is tough just [because] I’m the worst texter of all time. [I] cannot pick up my phone to respond to anyone, so that makes it tough,” Tate said. “I’m just so much better in person. My friendships are so strong in person and online.”
“I’m just absolutely tragic. So I think it’s just [about] making sure to plan to see your friends when you get back,” she said, adding “everything’s fine” with her friends once they finally connect, even if that means talking over the “occasional FaceTime call.”
As for romance, Tate said she’s “never really been too public with my relationships.”
“I think mostly because the priority for me has always been the music. I’m here to just release music and dance and do what I love, and I think the rest of the stuff isn’t that important.”
