A HOMEOWNER has been left disgusted by the revenge taken by his ‘petty’ neighbour following a dispute.
Taking to Reddit, the man explained that he lived in a rental block with his neighbour’s house facing theirs.
The redditor had been forced to report the neighbour due to his ‘hoarding along the corridor’ claiming that their clothes would get caught as they walked past.
In the post he added: “I know in these kinds of living environments, we should practise tolerance and I did sit on it and spoke to him nicely before but to no avail.
“Lots of excuses from him about keeping his things.
“Recently, the town council finally removed his things along the corridor. He managed to get some of it back to put back along the corridor.”
It was then that things started to turn nasty, with the neighbour taking revenge in a rather gross manner.
He explains: “Now every morning he puts out a container of rotten food to make the corridor smell so that I can’t open my doors for some air.”
The man went on to claim that the neighbour also ‘sprays pesticides’ from his front door towards their home, asking people for advice on what to do as the council weren’t ‘able to do much.’
He also added: “Before anyone comments get a new house, yes my wife and I are looking in the market for one now but we’ll still be here awhile.”
Fellow Reddit users were quick to weigh in, with many offering up their own solutions to the nuisance neighbour.
One wrote: “Before anything, set up a CCTV in case he retaliates/escalates.”
With more practical advice another added: “Pouring some used cooking oil over the rotten food will quell the stench.”
“Unfortunately, there isn’t much recourse unless you want to resort to tit for tat actions,” one added.
“And even then, I suspect that you have more to lose”
Another agreed that moving was probably the best option.
They wrote: “Best advice is to move away.
“Pointless staying next to a toxic person like this and suffering angst on a daily basis.”
Gemma Smith and Sophie Wood were engaged in a weekly feud for a year over their wheelie bins.
When Gemma moved next door to Sophie, 34, who is unemployed, in November 2020 they were civil to one another.
Gemma, who is single and doesn’t work due to stress, says: “Sophie seemed nice and we’d stop and exchange pleasantries.
“But it all changed at the beginning of 2022, when Sophie’s bin was full and she put her rubbish bag in mine.
“I took it out and put it on top of her bin.
“It fell off, gulls pecked at it and there was rubbish everywhere.”
Both women refused to clear up the mess, claiming it was the other one’s fault.
Gemma says: “I felt so angry.
“There was cat litter spread all over my drive — it was absolutely disgusting and we ended up shouting at each other.
“We were both as bad as each other — we’d walk past each other and I’d tell her she was a lazy cow and to clean up after herself.
“We’d scream insults at each other.”
Within six months Sophie had set up a CCTV camera and threatened to report Gemma to the council.
In retaliation, Gemma set up the baby monitor — which can record video — to try to pin more wrongdoing on Sophie.
Then last July Sophie spotted Gemma in tears on her doorstep following a burglary at her home.
Gemma says: “Sophie came straight round and asked if there was anything she could do.
“We are now the best of friends and help each other out all the time.”
