What We’re Tracking
An EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH has been issued for the entire viewing area for Monday through Thursday.
A few showers and storms have move into the area this morning. As it pushes eastward, it'll start to fizzle out with a few lingering clouds through the morning. Our Sunday will be slightly hotter in the middle 90s. Winds will increase from the south to 15-25mph later this afternoon as the heat moves in.
The upper level jet stream continues to carry wildfire smoke from the Pacific Northwest and Canada into northeast Kansas. Although not as prominent as it has been the last couple of days, we still have a 'hazy' look outside and a red tint to our sunrises/sunsets.
Heading into Monday, the heat begins to really ramp up, reaching into triple digits for several days in a row. Overnight lows won't provide much relief either as we struggle to 'cool' down below 80°. Make sure to take it easy next week, drink plenty of water, and find ways to stay cool!
