Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided an injury update following the 2-1 friendly defeat to Arsenal at the SoFi Stadium in California.
The Red Devils made the best possible start to the game with Rasmus Hojlund finding the back of the net in the 10th minute. However, he was soon substituted with a suspected hamstring issue.
The Dane went straight through the tunnel after being taken off, but he was present for the lap of honour to the fans following the penalty shoot-out.
Meanwhile, Leny Yoro was also brought off in the first half with a possible muscle issue. He was spotted limping after his substitution in the 36th minute.
The Frenchman applauded the fans around the ground. Hopefully, the setback is a minor one.
Speaking after the game, Ten Hag said that it is very disappointing with Yoro and Hojlund picking up injuries. An assessment will be made in the next 24 hours.
He said (via Chris Wheeler): “It’s too soon. We will have to wait 24 hours and we will hopefully know more. We were very careful especially with Leny.
“He only did 50% of the sessions and it’s very disappointing he had to come off. But let’s be positive and see.”
United had bad fortune with injuries during the course of the 2023/24 season. This contributed to their disappointing eighth-place finish in the Premier League.
The latest injuries to Hojlund and Yoro are a cause for concern. Ten Hag will be hoping for positive news regarding the duo. An update is expected from the club by Monday.
United have two more friendlies against Real Betis and Liverpool in the United States before their Community Shield clash versus Manchester City at the Wembley Stadium on August 10.
