SAN JOSE — A Bay Area swim coach has been arrested on suspicion of annoying or molesting a minor, police said.
Detectives launched an investigation in January after receiving a report that the coach — identified as a 28-year-old San Mateo man — had sent inappropriate messages to a female student, San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih said in a news release Friday.
The messages were sent last year, between July and September, and contained sexually explicit content, Shih said. At the time, the suspect was coaching in Milpitas.
On July 18, detectives arrested the coach in San Mateo, Shih said. He was then booked into Santa Clara County jail on charges of annoying or molesting a minor.
