Does your book club need something new to read? Well, if you can deal with a book that is coming out in the fall (date unspecified) and a cover that may or may not be a placeholder, might I recommend the upcoming Melania Trump memoir? According to the former First Lady’s website, the book, just called Melania, is “the powerful and inspiring story of a woman who has defined personal excellence, overcome adversity, and carved her own path.” Compelling.
Melania announced the memoir on Thursday, writing in a post on X, “May your experience reading my book be as enjoyable as the writing process was for me.” If one thing is true, it’s that Melania certainly has a unique way with words — as we saw in her bizarre statement after Donald Trump got shot — which will hopefully be on full display in the book. She also shared a video of the cover, so you’ll understand what I meant when I said it looks like a placeholder.

That can’t be it, right? Maybe not putting her face on the cover is a brazen act of feminism from the former model. Or, these people just don’t know what they’re doing. I’m leaning toward the latter.
So, how much is the going rate for a First Lady’s memoir? Jill Biden’s 2019 memoir, Where the Light Enters: Building a Family, Discovering Myself, is currently selling for $16.99 on Amazon. Michelle Obama’s Becoming is on sale for $11.32. Of course, the first run of a book is going to be more expensive, which is why you can pay anywhere from $40 to $150 for Melania. For $40, you just get the book, for $75 you can get a signed copy, and for $150 you can get the “collector’s edition,” which is a signed copy that promises to be “in full color throughout.” The book also includes “48 pages of never-before-seen photographs,” for those of you who are visual learners.
Again, it’s unclear when this book will be published. There’s no actual release date beyond “fall,” which I guess is supposed to mean it will drop somewhere around the election. There’s not even a real sense that Melania will do much to promote the book, what with her busy schedule of sending Barron to college and only showing up on the campaign trail when absolutely necessary. Who has the time?
